5/22/2023 0 Comments Love is Always Write by Megan DerrThe boy looked guilty and afraid but only shrugged and looked at his feet. Why is a boy of not more than ten summers out here all alone, being chased by dangerous men?" "Y-y-yes," the boy stuttered, visibly shaking and crying as he slowly stood up. "Ho, there," he called, taking care with his Tavamaran. Turning, he sought out the boy and found him hiding behind the well Ramsay had only just abandoned. He used his own sleeve to wipe the spatters of blood from his face. Kneeling, he cleaned his sword on the robe of a dead man, then sheathed it. He was still panting heavily when he finished. The men fought tenaciously, and if they had not been so strung out while chasing the boy, they might have stood a chance-six against one should have been an easy victory for them, but they were scattered and tired from running in the exhausting heat, and Ramsay had not lost his edge, despite his unexpected and extremely early retirement. Dropping the dipper from which he'd been drinking water at the well, he drew his own sword and ran forward with a roaring cry. Ramsay heard the cry for help a split second before he saw the boy coming in his direction at full speed, chased by half a dozen men with swords flashing in the hot, bright sunlight. At the time I wrote this, it just happened to be the story that came to me. The rest of the series will be posted in order. Author's Note: Sequentially, this is the last story in the series.

Sixteen months later, the king’s fifth wife would follow her cousin Anne Boleyn to the scaffold, having been convicted of adultery and high treason. On the morning of July 28, 1540, as King Henry’s VIII’s former confidante Thomas Cromwell was being led to his execution, a teenager named Catherine Howard began her reign as queen of a country simmering with rebellion and terrifying uncertainty. Written with an exciting combination of narrative flair and historical authority, this interpretation of the tragic life of Catherine Howard, fifth wife of Henry VIII, breaks new ground in our understanding of the very young woman who became queen at a time of unprecedented social and political tension and whose terrible errors in judgment quickly led her to the executioner’s block. 5/21/2023 0 Comments Sean howe marvelIt's very dull stuff and the minutiae of who worked on what book when has very esoteric appeal. So and so didn’t get on with so and so, they created this character in an afternoon, made this comic in a weekend, nobody gave a shit, blah blah blah. You definitely have to be deeply invested in the subject of Marvel Comics to enjoy this book because, wow, is there a ton of detail here! Most of it is pretty boring too. The best nonfiction books compel readers whether they’re interested in the subject matter or not Howe’s book is not that. It’s the company that gave us Captain America, Namor the Submariner, and The Human Torch in the Golden Age, and then, as Marvel Comics, the iconic characters: the Fantastic Four, the Incredible Hulk, Thor, Doctor Strange, Iron Man, the Avengers, the X-Men, and Spider-Man. Sean Howe’s Marvel Comics: The Untold Story is a comprehensive look at the company that was founded as Timely Comics in 1939, became Atlas Comics, and then eventually settled on Marvel Comics. They’re just things that interested me and might be interesting to others who haven’t read this, might not read this, but are into Marvel comics. These post-review comments are peripheral to the review, so I’ll keep them separate. I’m gonna do something a little different here: I’ll review the book properly first, then talk generally about what I read. 5/21/2023 0 Comments You caroline kepnes audiobookHe doesn’t want to hurt his new girlfriend-he wants to be with her forever. When you think that nothing could go worse, you’ll be proven wrong many many times. This last book kept me on the edge of my sit from page 1 to the end. She’s basically the chosen one and I couldn’t be happier that she had such a role in the Rebellion. In this book she’s the main character through and through. I can’t believe how much Amani has grown as well. Not one time was I let down (except again when the author was so cruel with my precious characters *cries*). I’ll miss everybody so freaking much! I started reading this series in 2015 and I’ve loved it ever since. Now I probably really need to sit in a corner and cry of both sadness and joy. I’ve lost the ability to produce proper sentences. In my review I have spoilers under tags but not in comments as I can do nothing about those. Please don’t read the comments if you don’t want to be spoiled. If you’re considering picking this series up DO IT NOW. 5/21/2023 0 Comments Stitches by David SmallStitchesĭavid Small's graphic memoir, Stitches, was published in September, 2009.
